Understanding Construction Documents (Blueprints)

This class is more than just blueprint reading – a set of construction documents includes both specifications and drawings which are the basic means of communication in the industry. The course provides review and discussion of drawings and specs, their importance, priority, details, information and influence on the industry.

Participants will:

  • Learn document preparation processes for a clearer understanding of projects
  • Easily navigate documents for faster, more accurate bids
  • Make more informed decisions onsite minimizing mistakes and miscommunications
  • Gain a better understanding of construction techniques and procedures


Instructor Kurt Dietrich is Principal Architect/Founder of Kreate Architecture and Design in Regina. Kurt has more than thirty years’ experience in the design and construction industry as an architect, including offices, schools, medical offices, retail establishments, and theatres. His experience in planning new environments and facilitating project delivery has been enhanced throughout his career on Municipal, Provincial and Federal projects as well as private industry.


This course was designed for new estimators, future project coordinators and superintendents working for a general or trade contractor, manufacturers and suppliers.
